Kilworth Makes Winning Handicap Debut
15FEB2026 - Kilworth has made a winning start to life in handicaps after beginning her UK jumps racing career this season.
A novice mistake resulted in a fall on debut, having been distracted at the last by another faller; when making her hurdling debut at Stratford in October 2025 but she dusted herself off to run admirably for minor money under Harry Cobden at Exeter the following month. She then finished ahead of 5 other runners at Ludlow before making her handicap debut in fine style.
Running in the 3 mile ‘Stag Environmental Polaris Dealer Devon & Somerset Novices Handicap Hurdle’ at Taunton races with champion jockey Sean Bowen on board, she was prominent throughout and delivered at the last to lead on the run in and take the win by 3/4 of a length over the impressive Snapdance (2nd) and Nowyouvebinandunit (3rd).
Kilworths win capped a fine day for champion jockey Sean Bowen at the course who completed his hat-trick aboard our girl in only the third race of the day. His class and ability was apparent and we were very lucky and appreciative to have him ride for us.
