Form For The Season Ahead
09AUG2026 - The national hunt season may not be in full swing just yet but with the HOE girls back in training in July it’s time to start getting excited, so lets take a look at the form of our superstar mares reviewing races past.
Kilworth and Fiercestone return to training at the fabulous Bonita Racing Yard.
Kilworth
Our season took off in January when Kilworth won her first hurdles race over 3 miles and in doing so beat two subsequent winners. 2nd placed Snapdance went on to place twice over 2m5 - 3m before winning his last race of the season over 2m5.5f at Exeter. 4th placed Square Du Roule followed up a 59 day break run out to win back to back races at Wincanton (3m0.5f) and Exeter (2m7f).
The 6yr old Henry Daley trained Hard Dealt who finished behind our girl at Ascot in March followed up with a fantastic 4/10 in a valuable class 2 handicap at Warwick (2m5f) towards the end of April. 4th placed at Ascot that day A Good Yomp went on to pick up a spring hurdles win at Aintree albeit over the much shorter 2m1f.
Kilworths season finished on the Welsh hillsides at Chepstow running fantastically well over the harsh undulating course to finish 3rd. In a race that could have gone to any of the horses on the podium, the winner Roaring Home has gone roaring on since; picking up a win at Aintree in mid-May (2m4f) and a pair of big field summer hurdle seconds (2/10 2m7f Uttoxeter Class 4 & 2/13 2m6f Cartmel Class 3) taking to the higher grade on each occasion.
Fiercestone
Our newest 4-legged member of the team will be making her debut under rules in the coming season and she’s lightly raced with only a pair of points races to her name and although it’s early days there are encouraging notes to be made here and there.
Her 6 lengths 2nd at Ballysteen saw her finish ahead of 4/5fav Boombox on the day who has since gone on to finish 2/11 NHF on rules debut. The winner What’llido has yet to race again and will be worth keeping tabs on.
A couple of weeks later she impressed immensely winning at Bartlemy over 3 miles in her second race. The win looks even more impressive since 3rd placed Wheremyrosemarygoes won her novice hurdle on debut (2m) at Uttoxeter last week. The points win was franked again by 4th placed and 7/4fav on the day Redbarn. She has gone to champion trainer Dan Skelton for the coming season and won on debut at Worcester (2m NHF Class 5) before finishing 2/7 and 2/11 at Stratford and Uttoxeter respectively in 2m - 2m1f NHF.
